TotalEnergies and Soltec begin construction of two new solar parks in the Murcia region

Murcia, July 2, 2025 – TotalEnergies, a global integrated energy company, and Soltec, a company specializing in photovoltaic energy solutions, today presented the Luminora Solar Dos and Luminora Solar Tres projects in Murcia, laying the first stone of these facilities. Located in the municipalities of Murcia, San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar, Luminora Solar Dos has a total installed capacity of 220 MW. Luminora Solar Tres is located in the municipalities of Murcia and Torre Pacheco and will have 95 MW. Construction is expected to be completed by October 2026.

With more than 494,000 bifacial solar panels and solar tracking technology, the two plants will produce 630 GWh of renewable electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of 180,000 Spanish households. This energy represents a saving of 314,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Both plants span 460 hectares and represent an investment of €212 million. They will also drive job creation in the region, prioritizing the hiring of local employees and suppliers. During the permitting, development, construction and operation phases, it is estimated that 800 direct and indirect jobs will be created.

In total, TotalEnergies’ joint portfolio with Soltec amounts to fourteen projects. Four are already operating (La Asomada, Los Valientes I and II and La Isla) and six are under construction (Romeral I and II, as well as the two facilities presented today, plus Fuente Álamo I and II, which will also begin construction this month). This project portfolio has a total capacity of 439 MW, of which 23 MW are already operating, supplying power to the grid. A further 356 MW are under construction. An additional 60 MW remain in development.

Jordi Torres, General Director of TotalEnergies Renovables in Spain, said that “these new projects demonstrate TotalEnergies’ commitment to the energy transition in Spain, a priority country for the company. Furthermore, this announcement and the recent commissioning of our 14 MW plant in Los Valientes position us as a key player in the energy transition of the Murcia region. They also contribute to TotalEnergies’ overall goal of reaching 100 GW installed by 2030.”

Mariano Berges, CEO of Soltec, stated: “At Soltec, we are working to strengthen our ties with Spain and, particularly, with the Murcia region, our home. These projects are a good example of that, and they also mark a new stage for the company, since they will be among the last we work on as an EPC contractor. From now on, we will focus our activity on solar tracker supply, where we aim to remain a global benchmark.”

TotalEnergies and Soltec’s presence in the Murcia region

TotalEnergies, together with Soltec, is developing a solar photovoltaic portfolio of more than 400 MW at various stages of development, construction and operation, out of the 3 GW of renewables with all permits obtained for which the multi-energy company is developer throughout Spain. These projects add to the integrated electricity portfolio TotalEnergies is developing in the country, where it complements its renewable assets with the flexible generation of its two combined-cycle gas plants in Navarra. In the Murcia region, TotalEnergies has around 75,000 electricity, gas and service contracts, as well as an in-person service office on Ronda de Levante street in the city of Murcia, and sponsors the TotalEnergies Murcia Costa Cálida Marathon.
