Soltec supplies a 265-MW DC plant in Ohio, USA

  • The solar plant has been developed by Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. and will be built by PCL Construction Services Inc.
  • The project will be equipped with over 10,000 SF7 Soltec solar trackers, generating a yearly average of 413.3 MWh of electricity
  • Soltec has nearly 1 GW of projects completed or currently under contract in the US

Soltec, leading firm in the manufacture and supply of single-axis solar trackers, supplies its SF7 tracker for a 265- MWDC project currently being developed by Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. in the State of Ohio, USA. PCL, another Canadian firm based in Toronto, is performing the engineering, procurement, and construction of the plant, which is slated to go online by the end of 2020.

The plant, with arrays that will cover a surface area of 1,350 acres, will be equipped with over 10,000 SF7 Soltec solar trackers, generating a yearly average of 413.3 MWh of electricity. Soltec’s solar trackers adapt to all types of climates and terrains because they are easy to assemble and suitable for multiple design configurations.

“Our SF7 tracker, with its signature 2-Portrait configuration is a perfect fit for this project. The land constraints create challenges that only a tracker with a design like Soltec’s can truly optimize. I’m very happy that our customers recognize and take advantage of the production benefits our tracker offers while significantly reducing the foundation count on these parcels, which have adverse soil conditions.”, says Colin Caufield, US Sales VP.

To date, Soltec has almost 1 GW of projects delivered or under fulfillment, 600 MW of which were closed last year. Some of these projects will use Soltec’s SF7 Bifacial tracker, capable of generating up to 15.7% more power under high albedo conditions (55.6%) and an additional 2.1% energy output compared to their 1-in-portrait competition.

Soltec’s portfolio in North America has reached 2.5 GW of projects that are either commissioned and operating or under current supply contracts. Globally, Soltec has 10 GW of tracker projects, which places the company third among international players for accumulated solar tracker installations.
