Soltec supplies and installs 63 MW of its SFOne in its first project in Portugal
The project will have 1,083 Soltec SFOne trackers. The plant will prevent the emission of 120,904 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. The solar plant will generate electricity to supply more than 17,000 households.
Soltec, an integrated photovoltaic plant solutions company, will supply and install its SFOne single-axis tracker in a 63.5 MW project in the Setúbal district of Portugal. The solar plant will cover an area of approximately 95 hectares.
This is the Spanish company's first project in Portugal and the first plant in Europe to be equipped with its SFOne 1-in-vertical tracker which, by reducing its height, also reduces the visual impact of the plant and blends in better with its surroundings. This project will have 1,083 solar trackers and more than 11,000 photovoltaic modules.
The SFOne tracker is the latest release from Soltec. This model is an upgrade and adaptation of its first 1P tracker, which the company launched in 2009. The SFOne is a tracker specially designed for longer 72 and 78-cell modules and is self-powered thanks to its dedicated panel, resulting in lower operational costs.
"For us, this new solar plant in Portugal is very good news, which will be our first project in the country and the first in which we will install our SFOne in Europe. We know that Portugal is one of the European countries that is most committed to achieving an energy transformation towards clean energy, so we are sure that this will be the first of many more projects for Soltec in the Portuguese country," he said. Raúl Morales, CEO of Soltec.
The construction of this solar power plant with the Soltec SFOne tracker will avoid the emission of 120,904 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere on a par with coal emissions. In addition, this project will be able to generate electricity for more than 17,000 households.
