Soltec launches SF8, the largest single-phase tracker on the market
The SF8 is a multidrive tracker with at least 4 strings up to 100 kW. The SF8 bifacial configuration can produce up to 8.6% more energy than other solar trackers. The SF8 increases the stiffness of its structure by 22% compared to the SF7 tracker.
Soltec, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of solar trackers, presents its new SF8 tracker. Under the slogan "designed for greatness", the SF8 tracker aims to revolutionise the photovoltaic solar tracker market with a minimum configuration of 2×60 and between 4 and 6 strings.
This tracker is elegantly designed while reinforcing its structure for installation and performance in any terrain. The reinforced torsion tube with new and improved geometry, together with a new and improved self-stow The new SF8 tracker is also 22% more rigid than the previous generation of the SF7. In addition, the SF8 tracker increases the rigidity of its structure by 22% more than the previous generation of Soltec trackers, the SF7. "We have applied all the knowledge acquired, in collaboration with RWDI, to design the most robust tracker on the market," says Sergio Lopez, COO of Soltec.
The SF8 is specially designed for the larger modules, between 72 and 78 cells, which are beginning to dominate the market. "As tracker manufacturers we have to adapt our designs to market trends, always with the aim of offering our customers the best performing trackers," says Raúl Morales, CEO of Soltec.
SF8 reduces the number of parts by 5.16% compared to the previous generation of Soltec trackers for greater efficiency, both in terms of cost and installation. Each SF8 tracker has at least 4 strings, which also reduces the number of electrical connections. Thanks to these implementations, the SF8 is easier and faster to install, resulting in a higher return on investment and lower installation and maintenance costs.
Smarter and higher bifacial performance
The new SF8 has an innovative full-wireless system that allows the connection of the entire plant and all trackers to each other. The system Open Threaddeveloped by Google, makes it possible to intensify plant protection and anticipate any weather phenomena to prevent damage.
The SF8 tracker's revolutionary technology allows it to produce up to 8.6% more energy than its competitors when bifacial modules are incorporated. "With the TeamTrack system, Soltec was already able to produce 6% more energy. Now, we have improved this algorithm by adapting it to bifacial modules, giving us an extra gain of up to 0.5%. This extra bifacial gain of the SF8 tracker is in addition to the 2.1% of bifacial gain that our bifacial tracker obtains compared to trackers in 1-in-vertical configuration," says José Alfonso Teurel, CTO of Soltec Innovations.
"We believe our SF8 will revolutionise the solar tracking market. Its minimum configuration of 2×60 will allow not only lower installation and maintenance costs, but also generate much more energy and boost the performance of photovoltaic plants. At Soltec we are very satisfied with this development and the improvement it will bring to power generation in large photovoltaic parks", says Raúl Morales, CEO of Soltec.
